Have you ever thought about what it must be like for the parents of a child with special needs?...

…To have to take that long, deep breath when your child with Autism is acting out, as you prayerfully awaits the calm after the storm?

…To sit with your child with Down syndrome in your lap and wonder why others cannot see what you see in those soulful eyes?

…To wish with all your heart that people would pity less and do more to help your child feel as wanted and as welcomed as the child next door?

Have you ever thought about how frustrating it must be to cry and feel so alone?

In 2004 we thought about these things and decided WE needed to be the change in their lives and in our community… that is when we started the Friendship Circle of Miami.  Since then, so much has changed for children with special needs in this community:

The children have friends – lots and lots of friends.  They have play-dates and group activities.  They have art and music, dance and fitness, summer camp and winter camp programs.  They have picnics and field trips, sports leagues, karate and gymnastics --- the list goes on… and all of these are provided by our Friendship Circle.

Their parents finally feel heard and understood.  They have a place to go where they are not pitied, stared at or frowned upon, rather a social forum of love and support.

What started on a hope and a prayer has grown into a “movement” where a caring community feels a sense of responsibility for its children.  Since its inception, hundreds of children with special needs have benefited from the Friendship Circle of Miami, their families have found a place that welcomes them and provides support, and our teenage volunteers have found empathy and learned the importance and value of altruism.

So have you thought about it?

Now is the time to think about what it must be like for those families.  Now is the time to think about how your small act of kindness can make a big difference in their lives.

PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION TO OUR OURGANZIATION WHICH IS MAKING SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY!

With gratitude in advance for your donation on behalf of our families, we say Thank You!
